Time to show off YOUR automations! You all sent me some very impressive home automation ideas that I’m so excited to show you.
SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS
Want me to feature your automation idea in a future video? Here’s how:
1. Take a horizontal video showing the automation in action and explaining it.
Videos that are well-lit and not extremely shaky are more likely to be used.
2. Upload the video to Google Drive, YouTube, or another platform.
Make sure we can view and download it from the link you send.
3. In an email, send us a link to the video.
You can also write down more info about how you set up the automation, what tech you’re using, your name for a shoutout, etc.
4. Email to: smarthomesolver@gmail.com
This email is only for submitting your automation ideas and setups. All other emails will not receive a response.
Big thanks to today’s submissions: Thorstann, Lisakki, Andrew, Jacob, Jaren, George, Sonny, Josiah, Tim, and Praul Hubert

This machine was designed and engineered by Matrix Design to assemble a valve body and rubber tip. Assembly takes place around a dial using cam operated jaws that grip the valve body. A vibratory bowl feeds the valve bodies into a gravity track while a servo driven small dial is used for feeding the valve bodies to the main dial. Air tracks are used to move the rubber tip and a servo driven singulating mechanism grabs one unit at a time to insert on top of the valve body using thrust and rotation. After the parts are assembled, a vision camera inspects height and concentricity. If the parts are misassembled and do not meet the programmed critical dimension, it gets rejected through a vacuum. If the assembled part passes inspection, it gets ejected down a chute and into a waiting container on a conveyor belt at the bottom of the assembly machine.

Futurologists have been predicting the automation armageddon -- robots replacing human workers -- for decades. Has the future finally arrived? Economics correspondent Paul Solman visits Silicon Valley to talk with leading tech thinkers and computer scientists about whether humanity is at a tipping point.
SYNOPSIS: From lab-grown organs to tissue engineering, regenerative medicine holds the potential to deliver eternal life. How close are we to this new future of human health? Developmental biologists, biomedical engineers, regenerative scientists, and physicians for a riveting exploration of the current and future state of regenerative medicine.
PARTICIPANTS: Dany Spencer Adams, Stephen Badylak, Jonathan Butcher, Doris Taylor
MODERATOR: Emily Senay
Original program date: JUNE 1, 2017

WATCH THE LIVE Q&A: https://youtu.be/e0vKOYQUmgg
FULL PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Synthetic blood mass-produced to meet supply shortages. Livers and kidneys “bioprinted” on demand. Missing fingers and toes re-grown with a jolt of bioelectricity. Regenerative medicine promises to do more than just treat disease, injuries, or congenital conditions. It holds the potential to rejuvenate, heal, or completely replace damaged tissue and organs. If successful, regenerative medicine will have immense impact on how we care for the injured, sick, and aging — and how we think about death. This program will explore mind-boggling medical advances as well as the societal and economic implications of a future in which everybody may truly be forever young.
